Who are we?

We are an active group of retired seniors who decided to "give back" to their community. We call ourselves the Champlain Seniors Service Club or CSSC for short.

We are over 100-strong and growing by the day. While we do no fundraising, we DO donate nearly 20,000 hours of annual volunteer service to our community. Our Tuesday a.m. meetings are highlighted by the Music Makers, our own "house" orchestra, by singing that would be the envy of the Red Army Male Chorus, and by discussion periods often sparked by our weekly speakers of note and interest.

Friendship and fellowship run rampant!

Orillia needs you, and CSSC wants you - come join our group. It could be of some of the best and most interesting 2 hours of your week.

Who Do We Help?

There are forty-seven agencies who take advantage of our offers of assistance in their comminity help programs. These include Kiwanis Club Orillia, The Canadian Cancer Society, the Arthritis Society, the Big Brothers of Orillia, The Orillia Winter Carnival, The Orillia Santa Clause Parade, The Helping Hands, Orillia Chapter, Canada Day, Orillia Meals on Wheels, Orillia Heart and Stroke, The Alzheimer's Society, and many others.

As you can see from just this partial listing, we offer our services to a very diverse group-a fact that allows us to help most local Societies and Associations as well as being able to give our members a broad range of activities to meet their interests.

How Do We Help?

As stated earlier, we do not take part in any fund-raising projects, but we DO assist organizations that do so. We help with tagging days, with distribution of collection boxes, with assistance at major events, (e.g., Kiwanis Music Festival, Salvation Army, Kiwanis Auction) or with any organizational problem that our members can address.

Our Music Makers Orchestra plays their special brand of music and entertainment at nursing and seniors homes, three or four times a week.

Our members are involved as church wardens, as helpers in the children's breakfast clubs throughout the area, and as volunteer hospital staff. The list is extensive and we feel sure that an area of interest will appeal to you.
